The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has revealed the nominations for the 98th Academy Awards, setting the stage for one of the most closely watched awards seasons in recent years. From major studio productions to auteur-led dramas, this year’s nominees reflect a broad and ambitious cinematic landscape.
The nominations for the 98th Academy Awards were announced ahead of the ceremony scheduled to take place on 15 March 2026. The list spans 24 categories and includes a mix of established filmmakers, first-time nominees and international contenders, with several films receiving multiple nominations across major categories. Sinners broke the all-time record for most nominations with a whopping 16; One Battle After Another comes in with 13; and Sentimental Value rounds-out the top three with 9 nominations, including Best Actress for Elle Fanning’s performance, tied with Marty Supreme. The latter has seen tremendous success throughout awards season so far, with Timothée Chalamet scooping Best Actor at the Golden Globes and Critics’ Choice Awards earlier this month. This is his third Academy Awards nomination, making him one of the youngest-ever stars to receive three nominations.
The Voice of Hind Rajab is nominated for International Feature Film. The award-winning film, directed by Kaouther Ben Hania, recounts the final hours of Hind Rajab’s life; the six-year-old was killed in Gaza City while attempting to flee with her family.
