Taking place at L'Étoile du Nord, a recently renovated 19th-century railway office a few metres from Paris’ Gare du Nord station, Louis Vuitton’s Autumn/Winter show embodied the spirit of travel with a runway replicating a station platform. Like travellers awaiting a train's arrival, guests eagerly anticipated the unveiling of the collection, seated in neat rows lining the runway.
The fleeting nature of encounters at a train station is a central theme of the collection, emphasising the collective experience of a station platform where a range of emotions can be observed. From frequent commuters in their practical jackets and travellers embarking on journeys with hard-case LV luggage to families eagerly awaiting loved ones in more elegant attire (perhaps even plaid), the extensive collection brings these characters to life through innovative tailoring and design.
The first look, featuring a translucent trench coat, was one of many that experimented with outerwear, including blanket coats and sporty jackets, lending the ensembles a playful touch. Keeping the mood true to Ghesquière's Louis Vuitton, juxtapositions found a perfect balance in both clothing and accessories. When mixing and matching fabrics and patterns there was plenty of room for experimentation, for example with silver embellishments on a floral dress and chiffon frills paired with knitwear.
This year’s ready-to-wear collection also features a range of soft-sided luggage — bags that are not only functional but also fashion-forward. The colour palette includes vibrant reds and pastels like green and yellow, adding a pop of colour to your airport wardrobe.
For the finale, Ghesquière positioned the models on the balconies of the venue, standing before a screen that cast shadows mimicking the hustle and bustle of a busy station. This thoughtful touch encapsulated the overarching theme of the collection, proving that this season's Louis Vuitton offering was not only stylish but also a clever reflection on the spirit of travel.
