The MOJEH Weekend: Once In A Blue Moon

Eid Mubarak!

In honour of Eid al-Adha on 27 May, residents of the UAE have been granted a six-day holiday. However, long weekends in a fast-paced environment typically involve checking one’s emails “just in case”. As we enter the final days of the holiday, The MOJEH Weekend makes a case for switching off in favour of soaking-in serenity. Travel to the capital for an immersive sound healing experience that coincides with a powerful calendar event; recover from the inside-out at Dubai’s latest wellness destination; top-up your tan at a luxurious new beach club; and celebrate traditional Emirati flavours through a limited-time collaboration.

What To Do

The Natural History Museum Abu Dhabi has curated a unique sound healing experience to coincide with the rare blue moon on 31 May – the term refers to the second full moon occurring within a calendar month and, while the moon doesn’t actually turn blue, stargazers can expect to see it turn a vibrant orange as it rises above the horizon. The immersive session explores the science of sound and resonance while inviting attendees to pause for a moment of reflection and much-needed relaxation. 7PM, Atrium, Beneath The Dinosaurs. Where To Eat

Piehaus, Dubai’s specialty phyllo bakery from the team behind 21Grams, is celebrating Eid al-Adha through a collaboration with Sahar Al Awadhi, a pastry chef that is recognised as the first Emirati pastry chef in the UAE. As part of the restaurant’s Counter Culture series, which brings chefs, creatives and homegrown brands together, the duo have unveiled the Chebab Pie. The dish reimagines the Emirati chebab – a traditional golden pancake – with a saffron and cardamom-infused dough that is filled with a combination of cream cheese and date syrup. Whether you’re stopping by for breakfast or grabbing it to-go, this delicious celebration of heritage is one you can’t miss.

Where To Sunbathe

Bvlgari Resort Dubai has unveiled the Serpenti Beach Club at La Spiaggia, bringing its emblem to life on the shores of our city. The pristine stretch of coastline is punctuated with striking Serpenti-themed sunbeds, cabanas and terraces; though reserved for in-house guests, the beach club is open to the public subject to availability, so be sure to get your booking in early.
