Schiaparelli Leans Into Minimalism For Spring/Summer 2027

Daniel Roseberry strips back the drama to deliver a sharply edited, wearable Schiaparelli collection for Spring/Summer 2027

In an attempt to create a ready-to-wear collection that stands out in an already overcrowded market, creative director Daniel Roseberry went in the direction of distillation at Schiaparelli this season. “We get so hung up on these empty buzz phrases — ‘easy glamour,’ for example — that we can forget what the real point and attraction of RTW is: distillation. Essence,” he wrote in his show notes for the Spring/Summer 2027 collection. Staying true to his words, the runway stuck to designs that were deliberately simple in silhouette, yet rich in detail.

To that end, the palette was kept minimal with signature Schiaparelli black, bone and butter, broken only by flashes of colour. While such restraint might suggest repetition, the collection delivered quite the opposite. Lettuce hems, asymmetrical openings and jaunty details gave each piece the rigour needed to speak directly to the House’s loyal clientele. Leather and linen arrived trimmed with ruffles, inspired by the curtains hanging in the second-floor windows of the Place Vendôme atelier during founder Elsa Schiaparelli’s era. Above all, versatility led the way, with mix-and-match monochrome separates designed to effortlessly pair with one another.

This clarity was no accident. Having taken a break from social media to drive through the U.S. East Coast, Roseberry returned refreshed, and that newfound sense of streamlining was felt throughout the lineup. The mood was not without playfulness. The iconic Schiaparelli jacket was rethought with veggie embroidery, introducing colour on the runway: kingfisher blue, moss green and salmon pink, to be precise.

That relaxed attitude extended straight into the venue. Set in the basement of the Carrousel du Louvre, transformed into a dimly lit speakeasy, celebrities sat front row sipping cocktails as the looks drifted by. By hosting the show in a setting familiar to most, Roseberry grounded the House in the practical, a refreshing shift for a House whose creations so often demand an elaborate occasion.
