Prada Spring/Summer 2027 Is An Ode To The Skirt

How many ways can Prada present a skirt? The limit does not exist

For their Spring/Summer 2027 collection, Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons turned their focus entirely to the skirt, a garment that has long been an obsession for the House. After all, the piece contains multitudes: easily dressed down for Sunday brunch, elevated for evening or kept formal for the boardroom. Prada mapped that versatility across the runway, setting the skirt against a colour palette grounded in its signature greys and punctuated by sudden bursts of red, mustard yellow, green and soft spring pastels.

Across all 63 looks, not a single pair of trousers was in sight. High slits revealed glimpses (and a little more) of leg, while crystal embellishments added glamour, commanding attention when styled with skin-showing bralettes. Other iterations featured sheer outer layers that lent an ethereal, floating quality tailor-made for warm weather. Florals, however, were kept minimal, confined to a few moments rather than full looks.

While the skirt remained the undisputed protagonist, the styling above the waist held its own weight: bralettes, knitwear and outerwear delivered plenty of options to balance the wardrobe.

The collection played a game of tug-of-war between modesty and baring all, with gauzy, sheer hemlines and deep slits counterbalanced by full-coverage tops and heavier fabrications. The accessories were not an afterthought either as the trending East-West silhouettes defined the handbags, and asymmetrical sunglasses introduced a playful note.

Miuccia and Raf proved just how far a single silhouette can travel. Whether sheer, crystal-adorned, pleated or printed, this collection made a case for the skirt as the centrepiece of next season’s wardrobe.
