The Met Gala has officially arrived. On 4 May every year, celebrities descend in droves to The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City to attend the annual fundraiser in support of The Costume Institute and its associated exhibition. The 2026 exhibition is titled Costume Art and is an exploration of the interplay between the body and fashion; the event’s dress code is Fashion Is Art. Nicole Kidman is serving as co-chair for the 2026 Met Gala alongside Venus Williams and Beyoncé, marking her seventh appearance and third as co-chair (she first co-chaired the event in 2003 in a Gucci gown, and wore a Chanel gown for her second stint in 2005).
Nicole Kidman’s earlier looks were more understated by modern Met Gala standards and she has dialled-up the drama accordingly for more recent appearances, turning once again to Chanel for a feathered number in 2023 followed by extravagant Balenciaga gowns in both 2024 and 2025.
