Having previously led the artistic direction of jewellery and watchmaking at Cartier and Harry Winston, Marie-Laure Cérède’s appointment to Chanel’s Jewellery Creation Studio was met with immense anticipation and excitement. Her approach to creativity is highly praised by the industry, and speculation surrounding her next move was widespread before the official announcement. While her most recent tenure at Cartier did not include high jewellery under her purview, this new chapter marks an exciting evolution in her career.

The creative director will officially begin her term in October 2026, stepping into the role previously held by Patrice Leguéreau, who led the studio for 15 years until his passing in 2024. Working closely with the House’s teams in Paris and Geneva, Cérède will help steer the future of Chanel’s precious jewellery and high jewellery divisions.
