Alexander McQueen AW26 will be the talk of the town for quite some time. It’s one of those collections that guarantees pure visual satisfaction – every look delights the eye, tickles the fancy, and we just can’t seem to get enough of it.
As Creative Director Seán McGirr explains: “We’re always on; always curating, consuming, performing and being watched. More and more, we crave something intimate, visceral and real.”
That craving for the intimate and extraordinary coursed through every piece. Floral wallpaper prints and lace stepped outside, bed jackets were reinvented as rose-quilted eveningwear, and wild hand-embroidered flowers bloomed on 1960s-inspired silhouettes, pearlescent and sharply sculpted. Classic fabrics were reimagined with unexpected textures: changeant leather trench coats, sliced silk mikado suiting, and crushed floral jacquards shimmered and shifted under the lights. Each look compelled the eye to the next – the collection never disappointed, with every piece as strong as the last.
Tailoring was razor-sharp yet fluid, rooted in McQueen’s Savile Row heritage. Lace layered under organza and embroidered with feathers and bullion invites tactile engagement and a fun yet fierce attitude, while bold details like oversized shirt cuffs, high turtlenecks, skirts cinched with bows, and eerie face masks make every look distinctly McQueen.
While designed for autumn/winter, this collection sparks inspiration for every season – and let’s be honest, why limit these pieces to one season? McQueen feels like it’s having a bit of a comeback, and we are more than happy to witness it. Its textures, silhouettes and drama feel immediately wearable: layer pieces in spring, mix prints in summer, or play with proportions whenever the mood strikes. AW26 ignites ideas the moment it’s seen, proving that genuine great design is timeless and never bound by the calendar.
