MOJEH speaks to Princess Nejla, the Jordanian royal redefining modern fine jewellery, about family, fashion and finding the perfect work-life balance

Princess Nejla bint Asem is a woman who wears many hats — all of them impeccably styled. A mother, entrepreneur and fine jewellery designer, she launched her eponymous label in 2017, and has been quietly (and chicly) shaping the jewellery wardrobes of the Middle East’s most stylish women — Queen Rania included — ever since. Here, she speaks to MOJEH about her morning rituals, the importance of family and how creativity and healing go hand-in-hand.

I wake up at… around 7:30am. I’m not really a morning person, it’s an effort. I like slow mornings. Once I’m ready, I head to my home office to catch up on work and design before school pick-up and visiting my parents.

My morning routine consists of… prayer, coffee, music and a slow ease into the day. I like to stay grounded before things get busy.

I’m responsible for… designing and curating every piece for Nejla Bint Asem Fine Jewellery. From the first spark of inspiration to the story each collection tells, I’m involved in every detail.

My typical day… tends to go with the flow! I’m pretty easy going, and always prioritise my children and family. Some days are spent between my studio and the workshop; others are filled with sketching, creating prototypes, meetings, photoshoots or planning. The day always ends with family; that’s my balance.

My go-to working wardrobe comprises… baggy balloon pants, leopard-print Samba sneakers and a comfy tee or sweater — always comfort first! And, of course, jewels — I feel pale without them.

My 9-to-5 beauty look essentials are… Supergoop Glowscreen for protection and radiance, mascara (always), a touch of blush and soft eyeshadow. Effortless and glowy.

For lunch I eat… home-cooked Arabic dishes like mlukhiyeh, bamyeh or magloobeh with rice and salad. I normally join my parents and family for lunch — it’s a daily ritual that recharges me. Lunch is sacred.

I’m currently working on… a soulful collection that is deeply meaningful to me. Each piece is built around emotion and reflection, and I can’t wait to launch it.

What I love most about my job is… seeing a sketch design become a piece someone wears and loves. It’s healing, emotional and magical.

What I enjoy least is… spreadsheets and numbers. They pull me away from the creative flow!

When I get home… it’s all about family. Dinner, stories from the day and the girls’ energetic bath- time concerts (currently to Golden from KPop Demon Hunters). After they’re asleep, my husband and I unwind by reading or trading (my little secret side hustle) or we’ll head out for dinner. Late at night is when my creativity peaks; that’s when I plan and dream.

I couldn’t live without… my faith, my family and my inner realm of calm.

When I feel stressed… I pray, reflect and find stillness — that’s where clarity returns.

If I wasn’t doing this… I’d be an artist or interior designer — something that still lets me shape beauty through form and colour. Or maybe I’d study philosophy; I’ve always had a pull toward understanding life and creation. Shop Princess Nejla bint Asem here
